Hello everyone I hope you are having a great weekend.
Chocolate Baroque has just launched a fabulous and fun new rubber stamp set, Steampunk Birds. As soon as I saw the 'punky' Parrot I wanted to create a tropical garden for him to hang out in:) It's been colder than normal here in Ontario, Canada so it would be great to feel warm tropical sunshine.
I started by stamping cog plants from Punky Flowers on the background with white Colorbox Pigment ink. I blended a few colours of green pigment ink over top and then rubbed off ink over the images (ghost stamping), but they are hidden into the 'garden'. Next I stenciled with Distress Inks and TCW Gears (at the top) and TCW Ferns in the centre.
I embossed the Parrot from Steampunk Birds and the flowers from Punky Flowers with copper on watercolour paper, coloured with Tombow markers and cut them out to attach. I added die cut leaves and a small metal cog. Imagine is from Artistic Expressions.
Here is a look at Steampunk Birds A4 set, which is on sale until the end of December.
If you have a chance please visit Chocolate Baroque's Design Team blog to see what my talented teammates are showing.
Note: The photo that I used for my new blog header was taken right after snow storm in February. We have some snow right now, but not this much ! (thanks again to Donna for teaching me how to create these).
Thanks for visiting and have a great day,
Shirleyx

Such a summery feel to this stunning card Shirley, I guess that's your wishful thinking. I love the colours and the wonderful flowers go so well.
Is your new background what your garden looks like now, or is it an older photo? Hope you are having a good weekend.

awesome! love your trick of hidden garden in background! and you've colored the bird aesthetically!
In previous posts, Gelli print cards are so...lovely!
I need to borrow your friend Donna, and I'd be able to make a blog header that looks remarkably like yours. Covered with snow, my yard doesn't look so different to yours, without the snow...Well, we won't talk about that! Haven't had a bit of snow here yet, sadly having a white Xmas here is unusual.
Your parrot is really something, and your background is FANTABULOUS! I love all the layers of colour and designs you can create on a flat surface, and those flowers are gorgeous.
I did my first project, I may take a photo (from far,far away)! LOL!
You are absolutely rocking these days, Shirley, this is brilliant, what you can do with these bare stamps is quite remarkable. The parrot and these fabulous flowers are beautifully coloured. This is a superb card.
Love how you took your images to another level. Great job on the steampunk stamps....
Wow, what a beautiful creation with the new CB stamps , I really love this ART work a lot!!!
Greetings
Maria
Wow, really fantastic! Love the colours, and the new blog header. Valerie
I love the way you layered the cogs & the ferns stencilling & accented the ferns with those lovely die-cut leaves. Your parrot reminds me of one of those old-fashioned clockwork parrots made from metal with a sort of shiny painted sheen to them. The cogs & gears in the background give a really surreal feel to this. Hope you don't have too much snow.

I've never been sure about the steampunk thing apart other than on male cards, but with the addition of those lovely punky flowers and the pink it really is extremely feminine. The background goes beautifully too. x
