Doodle Drawings

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians.     We are enjoying sunshine, beautiful autumn colours and a very crispy morning with frost today.  The chilly morning seems quite strange after months of extreme heat.

One of my sisters requested a couple of 4 x 6 inch doodle drawings.  These are very quick and simple doodles but she likes them a lot and wants to frame them.

I use pigment pens that I use for zentangle doodles and coloured with Inktense pencils.

I'm sorry that I haven't been around to your blogs much lately, I'm still very busy.  I'm hoping to find more time for creativity this fall.

Have a great day,
Shirley

"Zendoodles"

Hello everyone & Happy Weekend !

I have something different to show today :)   I've been learning Zentangle this summer as I've been admiring beautiful artwork on Pinterest and Blogs and have been wanting to give it a try.    I've been a 'doodler' forever and Zentangle is a wonderful extension.    I still need to practice and learn more, I can't remember the names of the patterns, but I love it.

I think this Journal Page is a combination of both Doodles & Zentangle.  Below is the cropped version which I like better, the lady seems more mysterious.

I used a Acrylic paints & Neocolour II crayons to paint the face and Inktense pencils (love them!) to colour the tangles.

Below is the full page.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the weekend,
Shirley

The Key to Change

Hello everyone I hope you are having a great weekend.

I taught a workshop today with a great group of creative ladies.  We used many techniques to create five different cards and everyone's turned out beautiful.   Thank you ladies I had so much fun.

I don't have photos from the class but thought I would share a couple of tags that I made recently (not from the workshop).

The background on the tag above was left over from another project with Dylusions Inks that I decided to cut it into a tag shape.   I added white acrylic paint with Dylusion's Dotted Flower stencil.   I stamped with a couple of the leaves from Design by Ryn's Three Leaves Set with Seedless Preserves Distress Ink.  The great quote is from Impression Obsession - Key to Change C13072.

I started with Acrylic paint on the above tag that was left over from another project.   I didn't want to waste it so I sponged 'blobs' here & there.    Next I sprayed lime Dylusions Inks.    I could 'see' flowers & a bird in the blue/green areas which I outlined with a black pigment pen and highlighted with a white pen.  I added design around the edge with Dylusion's Dotted Flower stencil using blue & brown acrylic paints.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day,
Shirley

Doodled Glam Lady

Happy Weekend everyone,  I hope you are doing well.   It's been dreary here with a lots of rain, but our plants (& weeds) love it.    I have another Art Journal page to share today.

I've been busy but found time to doodle another 'Glam Lady and yes this page is bright!    Maybe I should have titled this post "Hair Gone Wild" :)     I didn't start out with a plan, just 'going with the flow' and had fun with it.

Again I've been inspired by Tracy Bautista's book, titled Doodles Unleashed where she shows many 'Glam Ladies'.     I'm also inspired by Marja's Doodle art (Marja's Stamping Addiction.)      My first Glam Lady is at this post here.

I drew the outlines with black pigment pens and then sprayed Dylusions inks for colour.     I painted the face with a couple of coats of 'economy' Gesso (now I know why it's inexpensive, it doesn't cover very well - live & learn), and added a little shadow.    I removed the Dylusions in some areas with bleach and repainted with Distress Inks (on my craft mat with water & brush).   I added the background circles with Acrylic Paint & TCW Mini Circle Explosion Stencil.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day,
Shirley

My Heart is at Home

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.  We are enjoying cooler weather, with some nice sunshine, wonderful!   I'm behind visiting blogs, I hope to catch up soon.

I like the theme for the June challenge at Art Journal Journey which is "Home", and created this page in my journal to join in.    I love to be at home either inside doing something creative or outside surrounded by our gardens and trees.    This is a 'doodle drawing' with no stamps and is meant to be whimsical.

I started by drawing the outlines with a black pigment pen.   I added colour by spraying Dylusions Inks.  I used a little dish to draw the circle for the sun and covered it when spraying.  I removed the dish, sprayed the circle yellow and somehow the colour stayed inside.   I used stencils with Distress Inks for the trees, 'grass', roof, bricks and sun.    I doodled a little more with black Pigment, white Gelly Roll & Sharpie pens.   I painted the house, flowers, cat & heart with Distress Inks on my craft mat with water & a brush.

Stencils:  TCW (mini) Circle Explosion, Fleur DeLis, Cubist
                Panduro (Bricks)
                Huey's Masks - Circle Graph

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day,
Shirley

Doodles Gone Wild

Hi everyone, I hope you are doing well and don't mind looking at 'Doodles gone Wild' :)

I recently bought a book by Tracy Bautista, titled, Doodles Unleashed.  I love to Doodle and this book is about practise to take it further and using Doodles with Mixed Media.    At the same time that I'm reading the book I see a gorgeous creation posted by a talented artist, Marja, see her post here, as she is was inspired reading the same book.    So I decided it was time to stop reading about it and start doodling in my Art Journal.

This is my first try at a 'glam lady'  - inspired by Tracy's outlines but is not the same as hers.   I had so much enjoyment trying out 'doodles unleashed'  but I think it looks like she has an Octopus on top of her head!  My husband who is normally encouraging of anything that I create can only say:  "She only has one eye-Why?"     I don't know, why not?   It's great to 'just do & don't think'.

I started with a collage using Modge Podge and pieces of designer paper.  I ended up with a line across the page as I didn't smooth it out properly.   You can see some of the design through the Gesso that I used over top.   After Doodling with pigment pens I sprayed with Dylusions inks.  I selected areas with Acrylic & Distress Inks (on my Craft Sheet with water & a brush).  I also used a couple of stencils with Distress Inks.  I finished by highlighting  with a white Gelly Roll pen.

Here is the cover of Tracy's book

Well that's my Doodles Unleashed for today, thanks for stopping by.
Cheers,
Shirley
