Winter Wishes

Happy Weekend!  I hope you are enjoying the festive season.

It's colder than average for this time of year... what happened to our 'above normal' temperatures?   It's minus 8 this morning with a few snow flurries.   It's also that time of year when we don't see the sun too much.

I have a card to show today that was inspired by the very talented Miranda Degenaars.  It was her beautiful sample cards at the Posthumas shop in Amsterdam many years ago that gave me the 'stamping bug' which has not left since.

I added a bit of Brusho's sprinkled and spritzed before stamping.  The Poinsettia (embossed with silver, coloured with Brushos and fancy cut into layers) and little dot stamp are by Magenta.  The Holly branch & sentiment are by Impression Obsession also embossed with silver.   I added a lilttle silver embossing enamel and splattered white acrylic paint over the flower & background.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

Green and Yellow Christmas

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.

I have a few more Christmas cards to show you.  Again I created a large sheet for the background, chopped it up and started stamping :)

The background stamping above includes a small Poinsettia by Magenta and Winter Berries by Penny Black.  Merry Christmas is from Chocolate Baroque.   I stamped on the Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettia die cuts with Design by Ryn's Sea Bubbles to create some texture.  The 'greenery' is from a McGill punch -Designer Pine .

The background stamps above are from Designs by RynSnowflake Set and again the Sea Bubbles which I like to use for 'snow'.   I added ornament Die cuts by Memory Box that match the Sea Bubbles and is the reason why I 'had to have it'.   I used again the same sentiment by Chocolate Baroque.

Again the small Poinsettia by Magenta is in the background along with Holly by Impression Obsession.  Peace and Joy is from a Penny Black set.  The star die cuts are by Memory Box.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week,
Shirley

Background with Brushos and Stencil

Hello everyone,  I hope your week is going well :)  Well I'm back already!  It was a rainy day yesterday and I just stayed in and had some fun in my craft room :)

I recently received the July issue of Craft Stamper magazine that is again loaded with lots of inspiration and tutorials.  On page 70, designer Helen Chilton shows various techniques using Brusho ink powders and one using a stencil.  I would never have thought to try a stencil with them, but it worked out great, similar to the first 'pull' from a Gelli plate.

You simply sprinkle Brushos to your card stock (I used mixed media but water colour would work great as well) and then lay your stencil over stop and spritz water.   Voila !  Easy Peasy background.

I used the exact Brusho colours that Helen used in her example as they happen to be favourite colours (but then I do love most colours :))  Turquoise, Yellow and Leaf Green.  I also stamped over the stencil with a letter stamp (as Helen did)  but I had trouble as the stencil was a bit too thick, but some of the lettering is showing.

I used the Turquoise and Yellow brushos to colour the flowers, which I fancy cut and layered up on the card.  I molded the back a little to shape the petals.

Stamps used:   Magenta- The 2 large flowers (no name on the package) Impression Obsession -(Zenspirations CL530 clear set) and Hello(A3579).

Stencil:  TCW- Pointy Circles

Die:   Joy Crafts - Leaf  (6002/0263).

Thanks for visiting and have a great day,

Workshop - "Magenta Style"

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a great weekend.  We are looking forward to sunshine and 14 (Celsius) today.   Will continue to rake leaves :)

I'm excited this morning, I have 100 followers today !  Thank you Miek for joining as the 100th. !  I also would like to give a big thank you to all my loyal followers and visitors.  I appreciate every single visit and all your kind comments.  I didn't know that blogging was going to be so much fun and that I would 'meet' so many kind & talented people all over the world !    I've been so inspired by all of you, thank you again.

I was very lucky to attend a wonderful workshop yesterday at Crop Circles with Nathalie Metivier from Magenta.   If you are familiar with their stamps, you will know they offer elegant designs.   They also held a 'trunk sale'.... which means, hundreds of stamps etc to tempt us. It was a great workshop and all the ladies in the class are so much fun to be with.   Such a special day !

I love all the designs & techniques that we worked with.   We were able to choose stamps & colours and used Nathalie's designs.  She is a fantastic teacher !   We created six cards, but finished the last one at home.      All images are Magenta with the exception of the first, it's by Crafty Individuals (distributed by Magenta)

This one I finished last night at home.  Background created using Magenta Stencil & Pigment Inks.  Images coloured with Prisma Pencils.   Butterflies Decoupaged and highlighted with Stickels and Glossy Accents.  The image with the young girl was stamped separately and cut out.

Background created with Nathalie's "Ghost" Technique..... will be using this lots, love it !   The background behind the Weed Image was stamped on Glossy paper after creating a 2nd background with Alcohol Inks.
Background created with Alcohol Inks and over stamped with Magenta flowers.   Main Image coloured with Prisma Pencils
Hard to see the colours in this one.  We used Perfect Pearls on the background of the tag & coloured by blending Pigment Inks.   The flourish on the tree highlighted with white Prisma Pencil.  The flourish was created also with Perfect Pearls.   Little birds coloured with Distress Markers and highlighted with Glossy Accent.
This was so much fun.  We used chipboard & peel-off stickers, then coloured with Micacolor Paints.  Again we choose our own colours  Everyone's card was different and all had beautiful results.  The background of the frame was coloured with Pigment Inks and over stamped on one side.
Cool design for opening.  Two folds.
The background again was created using Nathalie's Ghost Technique.  We started with white cardstock !  The image was stamped on glossy paper and coloured with distress markers, water (on craft mat) and brush.

Well that's "all" for today !    I hope to be back soon.
Thanks for your visit and have a great day,
Shirley
