Beauty with a Streamertail Hummingbird

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well and enjoying the summer.  I haven't spent much time in my craft room this summer but I'm sure that will change in the Fall :)

However yesterday I had some 'play time' again with Design by Ryn's new gorgeous Hummingbird stamps.   I used the Streamertail hummer from her Hummingbird 2 unmounted set.

The background was created by blending Distress Inks around circle die cuts (Bokeh technique).   I also sprinkled some water over the ink to create the splats (dab off with a paper towel).   I over stamped with Ryn's Spiral Branch Set. I coloured the images with Tom Bow markers and highlighted with a white Gelly Roll pen. I also sprinkled and heated (underneath) some white embossing enamel. Beauty is from Chocolate Baroque's Artistic Expressions Set.

New Hummingbirds by Ryn!

Hello everyone, I hope you've had a great week.

I'm a lucky girl as I received a package in the mail today with lots of very beautiful Hummingbird stamps from Designs by Ryn.   I wanted to create something quickly so I could show you a couple of the new stamps, so I dug into my drawer of 'background stash' and found a Gelli plate print that I thought would go with a couple of Hummers.

I was lucky as it was a 'much needed' rainy day, perfect to get the house clean and then hang out in my craft room for a while :)

I created the background while in a workshop using Distress Paints (very fluid arcylic paints) and a Gelli plate.     I stamped over top with dark purple Versafine ink and coloured with my Prisma pencils and highlighted with a white pen.  The paper used in the class for the background has some texture which was picked up in the colouring.

Designs by Ryn is launching two new unmounted stamp sheets Hummingbirds 1 & Hummingbirds 2 tomorrow (August 21st) at her website.   You can also check her Facebook page for information.

I used two birds from the Hummingbird 2 set.   I also used her Leafy Branch which I think compliments them very well.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend,

Published in Craftstamper Magazine!

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.  I haven't been around in blog land much as we have been busy and so crafting hasn't been on the agenda these days.

I don't have anything new for you today but thought I would show you this design that I made in the Spring.
I was honored to have this card published in the April 2015 edition of the fantastic Craftstamper magazine.  It's been a few months so I can now show it to you.

The background was inspired by Anneke De Clerck's design in the February 2015 edition of Craftstamper.

I used a Tim Holtz stencil with Distress Inks rubbed over top, spritzed with water and then used as a 'stamp' over the background.   The pretty image and sentiment are from Chocolate Baroque's Fluttering Hearts stamp set which I coloured using the same inks with a paint brush and water.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week,

Whimsical Sisters

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a great weekend.   We are enjoying the great outdoors, it's beautiful, sunny with not too much humidity... love it :)

I finally had a chance to use new stamps that were designed by Marja for Kico Stamps, I love her whimsical ladies, these two seem like sisters.

The background is Dylusions Inks along with Distress paints using a stencil and some stamping.  I stamped the girls separately which I painted with Distress and Acrylic paints, cut them out and attached.  I added a gloss gel medium over the entire design and sprinkled glitter which you can't see in the photo.

I drew their bodies and extended their hair as I've seen Marja do in her designs.  I also cut the neck of the smaller girl to tilt her head at a different angle.  You can have great fun with these stamps.

Here is a look at the stamp set.

Poinsettia in Traditional Christmas Colours

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.    We are still enjoying a wonderfully warm summer and I'm still not in my craft room or visiting blogs as much as 'normal'.

I created another card a while ago using the Tattered Poinsettia dies by Tim Holtz along with stamps from Designs by Ryn, but this time I used traditional Christmas colours.

I used Evergreen and Festive Berries Distress Inks with water to create the background.  I over stamped with Seaweed Set to create the 'branches'.   I also sprinkled white and gold embossing enamel onto the background and heated underneath with a heat gun.   The die cut flower is coloured with Festive Berries DI and the Sea Bubbles embossed with gold.    I painted over the flower with Viva Kristal Gel.
