I recently completed two different on line classes with Tamara Laporte of Willing Arts, both featuring whimsical (or stylised) Mermaids. These are mixed media pages that I've drawn and used collage and different mediums to paint.
A friend pointed out that the heads are large for the bodies.... yes I know that, it's intentional. I understand that this kind of art isn't for everyone, but it sure is a lot of fun to create.

Haha! what would we do without our Real Life friends? This is why I love our Blogland art community. I would never even have thought of the head being too big, the painting looks terrific, love her green hair and the seahorse with the heart, and the blues and greens are beautiful.

Awesome artwork. I agree with the others--your heads are perfect. I wish I had the talent you have. It's sad I don't take time to take on line courses. DT work seems to take up all my time--as you well know.
These are fabulous Shirley. Your first faces were great but I think these are even better with such a luminous quality, and the backgrounds are so pretty. The first mermaid with the cute seahorse and seaweed is wonderfully creative, and I love the clever tangle like pattern running through the hair of the second. x
