I have a design today that features another gorgeous Hummingbird from Designs by Ryn and a couple of her amazing water effects stamps.
Background: I blended Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn and Cracked Pistachio Distress Inks using an acrylic block and water. I added Fozzilized Amber and Mowed Lawn DI with Design by Ryn's Japanese Anemone stencil. I also used a small Magenta dotty and Ryn's Flower Lace stamps with Mowed Lawn but it's hard to see the lace.
Main images: I used VersaFine, Olympia Green, for the main stamping. I stamped the Hummingbird from Hummingbird 1 unmounted sheet separately, coloured with Tombow markers, cut him out and attached. I also stamped with Ryn's Hanging Droplet Set and Trickling Water 2 which are available mounted individually or in unmounted sets.
The sentiment is from Chocolate Baroque's beautiful Pretty Poppy stamp set.
TIP: How to make Designs by Ryn's water effects stamps appear more 3D:
- Stamp the image with permanent ink
- Brush a little water over top of the droplet area
- Blot water off with a paper towel to remove some of the colour. I used Distress Inks in the background which are water soluble and will lift up with water and paper towel.
- When dry add highlights with either a white Gelly Roll, Uni-ball or Acrylic pen. On the card above I used a Molotow white acrylic paint pen than Ryn recommended at her Facebook Page.
- Sometimes I add a little colour back into the water droplets but I did not above
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day,
Shirley

Thanks so much for this Shirley! As I mentioned to you earlier, the orange touches in the stencil tie the hummingbird in with the background beautifully. Love the colouring and highlights on the hummingbird. Thanks for explaining how to get the droplets to look 3D as well :) Hugs!

Beautiful! I eyed the sheets of hummers on Monday in Nika's store! Not sure which sheet now! But been eyeing another Chocolate Baroque sheet that I think I need too! :) Glad Christmas is coming! :) You always inspire! :)
How fantastic those orange-tangerine wings are! Lovely citrusy colors, Shirley , dripping with beauty! XXOO
Your backgrounds are always so interesting, Shirley--gorgeous card & wonderful sentiment!
Stunning. You put so much work and effort into this beauty. I love the rain drops and really want to get them. Your yellow is so cheerful. Have a nice weekend.
I believe that the twisted citron will be my favo colour next to mermaid lagoon; I had to put them away because I used them too often...and then I see your beautiful background and get some idees with that green colour again... Beautiful card! Have a fun weekend!
Hi teamie, it's a beautie and with a great stencilled background, lovely colors! xxMiranda
This is stunning Shirley and certainly cheers a very wet and windy day here in the UK. I love the colours that you've used, it makes me think of that lovely warm sunny weather we had in the Caribbean. Have a great weekend.

hI Shirley, that video I watched in Dutch I had no idea what they were saying but the caption translation to English was so funny, nothing resembled the tutorial apart from some of the measurements, it was sheer guessing on my part but it turned out okay...xx

Thanks so much for the Tip info. Your droplets look so extremely realistic....Haven't bought any Ryn's lately, and I'm loving when I see your cards showcased on FB. This one is just gorgeous, with the soft stenciling in the background. Your cards are always such works of art! Bet the recipients frame & display them - if not, they SHOULD! Also love the sunny colors on this one too. TFS & Have a great week. Hugs
Fabulous as always! Love the background and that gorgeous hummingbird in the rain! beautiful depth Shirley! xo
I came to tell you how much I love your reindeer card which is truly as magical as the verse, but then I caught this beauty out of the corner of my eye and I had to leave some love here. You know how much I adore hummers, so you can see how this would stop me in my tracks! It's extraordinary, Shirley!! Hugs, Darnell
