Hibiscus, Hummingbird and a Blog Break

Hello everyone,  I hope you are doing well.

I have a design to show today that features a background that I created while on a recent vacation.  Miranda showed us how to create backgrounds using Ecoline Inks with embossing.  I created a card using the background after I returned home.

We started by embossing a Hibiscus flower with clear power here and there.   Next added some Ecoline inks and then embossed a few more flowers.   Next I stamped a Hibiscus using Distress Inks.   I was stamping on a very uneven surface and ended up with 'non perfect' stamping which actually created more interest (I think) to the background.

The Hibiscus, leaves and Hummingbird were all stamped on watercolour paper with cobalt archival ink and then coloured with Brushos crystal inks.  Lots of fun.

Design by Ryn stamps used:    Hibiscus set, and Flying Hummingbird 2

With the return of nice weather we've been very busy with outdoor chores, other activities and I haven't had too much time or energy to be in my craft room or on my computer.    So I'm taking a break from blogging, I don't know how long but I will be back.... soon... I hope :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day

You have made a terrific background, I've never done embossing, it sounds a bit mysterious.
Love the cobalt blue strip and the bird and flower.
Have a good break from blogging! Hope you come back with your wonderful and inspiring art again one day.

Gorgeous card, Shirley - I agree that the non-perfect 'accidents' add much visual interest here (and anywhere, actually). I love the look of humanity it brings to made-from-real-life work.

Beautiful! I like the background technique; you have inspired me! I played with my all purpose inks the other night on water color paper. What a difference paper makes! Thanks for sharing and glad that you got away! :) Have a great weekend! Love your card!

Hi, Shirley! Your last three designs are so beautiful - sooooooo colorful and eye catching! I love each one. I especially like this hummer image by Ryn, and enjoy the fantastic color choices and shading in it.

I am beginning to feel a little better. Still difficult to use my fingers, as my hand-eye coordination is very poor, and the fatigue is exhausting! LOL But I can sit up now for brief periods of time, and enjoy doing some things around the house. I have missed you and your pretty cards very much. love, de
