Make a Wish

Hello everyone, I hope your week is going well.  We've had some nasty weather, heavy rains & winds, the tail end of the terrible storms south of us.   I am so far behind in gardening, hopefully I will get caught up at some point.   We are also experiencing Internet troubles, it's not so easy to leave comments lately.   Life in general is quite busy as well, I'm sorry if I can't get around to your blogs as much as I would like to.

Chocolate Baroque has launched more new gorgeous stamp sets.  One of them, Fabulous Flappers features beautiful ladies that I couldn't wait to try out.   I have two designs today in similar colours.

The background is Cut Grass Dylusions and Gold Glimmermist (hard to see the glimmer in the photo).    I used TCW Echoes stencil with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and stamped a rose from Mackintosh Windows with Olive Archival ink.  The beautiful sentiment is from Loving Sentiments.  I stamped the pretty lady from Fabulous Flappers on separate mixed media cardstock, coloured with Intense pencils and decoupaged over the background.  I tucked in a feather and added glitter.

The card above background was created with Mustard Seed Distress Ink using an acrylic block.  I added the feather design using TCW Peacock Feathers stencil with Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink.   I used Black Archival ink for the stamping over the background.  The deco corner is from Steampunk Butterfly and the pretty lady from Fabulous Flappers was coloured with Prismas.

Thanks for your visit and have a great day,
Shirley

Two stunning cards Shirley. I love the backgrounds you've made for both of these gorgeous ladies, and the colours you've used. The sentiment is one of my favorites, it suits so many types of card. Hope your bad weather soon blows away.

WOW. Did you hear my chin hitting the keyboard? Thud! These are SO beautiful, Shirley. Well, everything you do is beautiful, but something about these turn-of-the-century ladies really grabs me. The feathers behind one lady are a fun touch!

I'm sorry your weather is so horrible at the moment Shirley and I hope it gets better soon. I too am experiencing problems at the moment, but I think mine may be blogger because other things are fine but when I try to look at blogs and comment it is always locking up and everything is taking forever to load up. It is so frustrating and takes twice as long to do anything. I am getting behind too. I am burning the midnight oil to catch up! It's a good job I am rather a night owl. x

So sorry Shirley, I was so caught up in the blogger problems that I forgot to comment on those two lovely cards. I love the colour of the dress in the first and that lovely Mowed Lawn stencilling and lovely feather headdress you have given her. The Peacock Feather blue ink looks so different in the second one when put over that vibrant Mustard Seed ink. I love that Peacock Feather stencilling and the sentiment works perfectly on both the cards. I apologise again Shirley, I think I need a head transplant how silly of me. x

I love the feathers behind the image in the first, especially how the aqua picked out her dress & the tiny hair ornament. The echoes stencil is a perfect 'echo' of the roses on the dress, as are the stamped background Mackintosh roses. Again your use of the stencil in the background for the second is a lovely echo of the hat's ornamental flourish as well as the echoing the fan's shape; I love your use of those corners for framing.

Sorry to hear about the weather & internet aggravations. We all understand about the visiting woes too. (my lateness is due to ME, though, much as I'd like to blame the IP folks). Each one of these cards is more beautiful than the one before. What an enjoyable 'scroll down' as I'm viewing. I so love that rose motif going in #1. These ladies are so elegant & stylish, and love the way your pencils have emphasized all the great details. Backgrounds are beautiful, just as always. Take care, hope the weather improves for your weekend. Hugs & TFS

Shirley
This is my favourite era in history for the art movement, fashion, etc, such interesting times and one I never lose fascination with.
What stands out is not only the beauty of each card, I absolutely love the daring manner in which you paired the Flappers with vibrant colours to such stunning effect.
Wishes to you

Oh for crying out loud! I'm amazed every time I visit your blog, Shirley! The feather is such a fabulous touch & I totally adore the background & everything on the second one! I thought of you when I made my "outside the box" card--need to do it again & add some stamping or stenciling to my background piece. Thanks for always inspiring me!
