I have a card today that I created by using stencils and Designs by Ryn's amazing Rain Drop Set. If you are interested in buying Ryn's unique and high quality stamps please visit her Rubber Stamp Shop - she sells directly to customers around the world. You will also find lots of inspiration at her Facebook Page or at the rest of the Design Team blogs that are posted on my side bar.
The background is created with Dylusions Inks, Distress Inks, Acrylic Paint (butterfly) and stencils. I use Dylusions spray inks a lot as I have so much fun playing with them. I stamped the raindrops (2 sizes from the set) with black Stazon, painted them a little with Distress Ink (add to your craft mat & pickup with a wet brush) and highlighted with a white pen. I doodled on the butterfly with black & white pens.
Stamps: Design by Ryn's - Raindrop Set (4 stamps)
Sentiment is from Chocolate Baroque's Loving Sentiments set.
Stencils: TCW Mini Butterflies & Dylusions (Ranger) Dotted Flowers
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Hi Shirley - I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Your cards are ALWAYS fabulous, and this is no exception. Love the inky colours and the sentiment, and Ryn's images are fabulous. I keep looking at her water drop stamps - I feel a purchase coming on!!
Love and hugs, Sylvia xxx
oh my gosh .. what adorable colors and those drops are amazing colored - you are the drop-master Queen -Shirley!
have a nice sunday!
So beautiful! Can't wait to get my Ryn stamps. Could you explain the sequence you use with the sprays, DI inks, & acrylics (as in which you lay down first?). And are you using a W/color paper or some other heavy cardstock? Appreciate the info if you have time. I see a lot of bloggers doing (or trying to do as am I) this lovely technique. It IS fun...you have provided such inspiration for me to try this, and place my order with Ryn. Thnx for sharing your lovely card, your techniques if you have time, and have a wonderful weekend. Hot & humid in SCarolina today as well. Debating on turning on the a/c system. Still have a nice breeze - although it's not very cool. Huts
Hi Mary, I've sent you an email, but will explain here for anyone else that is curious:
I used 140 lb cold press watercolour paper - the smooth side.
Here is the general order but you just have to play with it. When I try to duplicate for classes, it’s never the same.
•Spray blobs of Dylusions Inks.
•Spray water and blot. Maybe let it run a little (or not, just play with it!)
•Maybe spray a little more ink and maybe blot off without spraying water (more intense colour this way), depends on how much ink you have down.
•I used Distress Ink with a stencil first. Then I blended DI around the edges with the same colour to fill in bare spots.
•I used Peacock Blue Acrylic paint over a stencil, using a sponge to dab on.. dab dab until it’s the thickness you like
•I use a heat gun between layers
•I doodled with black pigment pen & white gel pen and white watercolour paint Sharpie
•I think I explained the painting of the drops in my post
That’s it! You really just need to play around and go with the flow & Have fun!
I love the way you used orange as the base card to echo the oranges in the centre of the background. Your whitework is terrific & your raindrops very striking indeed - especially where the butterfly appears behind the actual drops.
Our weather is strange here too but the plants are doing well, we're seeing some combinations of flowering that I'd not have dreamt: Magnolia flowers at the same time as tulips & rhododendron.

Hi teamie, a lovely colourful card with the wonderful Dylusion inks. Great with the drops and the stencilling! Yes, the weather is out of balance and today we have a cold crisp day again but dry! As I told you before my kind of weather! But indeed the garden loves it also because everything looks good.
warm greet and hug, Mirandaxx
Wow what a beautiful colourful card.
greetings Bianca
WOW this is stunning Shirley, such a big hit of colour. I love the way you've made it seem as though the sun is shinning through rain. I love the stencils in the background too. Glad you're having some nice weather this weekend, it's sunny here today as well. Warm enough for my sister to dust off the BBQ and have the family round, it just didn't happen last year as it was too wet.

Great card Shirley , love the colors and I love your raindrups, here the weather is still very cold for the time of the year, but today we are fying to Turkey to find some sun there, we hope there are not too much troubles!!!
Greetings
Maria
Hey Shirley, I just love how you combine stencils with stamps from my collection! Beautiful colour fade. I like how you matched the orange in the middle with the frame. Ties it in beautifully. Nice to read such a lovely response from your followers :) You deserve it. Hugs!!!
Oh boy water droplets are now on the must have list! Fabulous card! Love the pop of color in the middle. Hugs

Terrific colours and it has made my day feel very bright.
Love Chrissie xx
Beautiful card again Shirley and that background is amazing. Thank you so much for the info on how to achieve it - even with those instructions I think I have to do a lot of practising before I get the results you do!! Di xx
I'm loving the raindrops Shirley. A gorgeous card as usual. Thanks so much for sharing. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.
Beautiful Shirley! Love the colours, the raindrops look amazing and that sentiment is so sweet! Hope you are having a fab weekend :) xxx
The way those waterdroplets turn out to be so realistic never fails to amaze me ! I just read that you teach classes. My sister also lives in Ontario, maybe she lives close enough to take a class? She lives in the Whitby area. Of course, if she does, I'll be so green with envy,it will look like I was sprayed with Dylusions Ink!
Finally your plants are lush and happy after that long and cold winter!! This card is another masterpiece, my friend! I recently got the water droplets stamp from Ryn after all your inspiring works, although with my simple style, it will be interesting to see how I actually use it! What was I thinking, trying to CASE your works of art?? Enjoy the weekend and the lovely weather!
Hi Shirley!
