Not only at Christmas

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.

I have been working on a lot of Christmas cards recently and keeping them flat for mailing.  Postage is getting expensive, especially overseas, and if the cards have a lot of layers and rhinestones the cost is the same as a small package.

I have a few to show today using Design by Ryn's Snowflake set and a lovely Impression Obsessions' sentiment - 'Not only at Christmas'.

The background (above) was created using Raspberry and Coral Distress Inks.   I made a stencil from a Memory Box die and blended more ink over top.   I stamped with Designs by Ryn's Snowflake set and then added some die cuts by Memory Box.  Instead of rhinestones I added holograph stickers to the snowflake centres to keep it flat.

The next two are in the 'Shirley colours', a favorite colour combo but I do love other colours as well :)

The background (above) again is Distress Inks and I used a stencil that I made with a Memory Box die and Distress Ink.  I didn't use Ryn's snowflakes on this one, but over stamped with Penny Black's Star Poinsettia and added some gold enamel embossing.  The snowflake die cuts are by Joy Crafts.  Again I added holograph stickers to the snowflake centres.

The background (above) was created with Peacock Feathers and Citron Distress Inks.  I stamped over top with Design by Ryn's Snowflake set with the same inks and embossed Seaweed set with gold glitter powder.  The die cut is from a Memory Box - Holly Holiday Frame set.

Happy Thanksgiving weekend to my Canadian followers.
Shirley

What beautiful cards Shirley and I love all the colours and a fabulous idea to make a stencil from a die. Postage can be expensive these days so a great tip with the stickers instead of gems too. x

Great and beautiful postcards, yes the post is really too expensive, for us cardmakers, so we have to find solutions, in Belgium it is much more expensive when the card is a square, so mine are 10,5cm - 15cm , only 1 stamp, squares 3 stamps , I think the post should have the same rules every where!!!

Greetings
Maria

Three stunning cards Shirley, I love the colours on all of them the background are as always gorgeous. I know that somewhere (we're still upside down with the decorating at the moment) I have Ryn's wonderful snowflake stamps, now if only I could find them you've given me some great ideas. Hope you are keeping well.

Your cards are lovely. As always I'm intrigued by your backgrounds. I hear you about making them "mailable" esp for overseas.

Have a happy Thanksgiving.

How pretty, Shirley! Love the "sunrise" and "midnight beauty" cards - both of them fantasy snowflakes in your usual mystical, magical way! Such lovely backgrounds and colors! We are still in the upper 80s here, but it is cooling off a bit. This morning it was only 70 when we woke up LOL huggers, de

Awesome! I've enjoyed seeing some of your Ryn creations on FB and love all of these wonderful backgrounds. Curious to know what material you are using to create the stencils from dies (purchased acetate? or stencil material? or just die cut plastic packaging? - I love the versatile use of the dies doing this technique, and you created a fabulous overlay look. You always have the most gorgeous cards. Loving your new banner as well. Off to enjoy some earlier posts I've missed. TFS & Hav a wonderful wkend. (oh yes, I loved the subtle look of the gold on #3, it glimmers just beautifully.)

Shirley, thanks for the info. Is this just normal stencil material or a special brand? When I've tried to die cut the 'stencil stuff' that I have, the dies don't seem to cut it well. Bought some for the silhouette cameo that I keep meaning to try, but haven't! (and it's easy to wax poetical about your lovely cards. I just run out of superlatives!) Always enjoy seeing when Ryn showcases on Facebook too. Have a great week.
