Mixed Media Canvas with Fluttering Hearts

Hello everyone and welcome to 2015!

I have a canvas to show today featuring stamps from Chocolate Baroque's gorgeous new Fluttering Hearts set.

I took the following steps:
  • Adhered Tim Holtz tissue on canvas with gel medium
  • Covered with Gesso
  • Added texture with Tim Holtz hearts stencil using light molding paste
  • Painted with Distress Paints and Silks Acrylic Glaze
  • Added texture with acrylic paints using bubble wrap and a Memory Box dotted stencil
  • Stamped images from Fluttering Hearts on tissue paper with cobalt Archival Ink
  • Adhered tissue with gel medium
  • Painted images with acrylic paints and highlighted with white Gelly roll pen

Here is a look at both of the new stamps sets Fluttering Hearts and Punky Hearts that are new this month:

I don't play with mixed media as much as I would like, something I hope to change in 2015.  Below is the entire 10 x 10 canvas.  I wasn't happy with how the photographs were turning out so I cropped it (above).

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day,
Shirleyx

WOW Shirley your canvas turned out beautifully.
I was thinking I would like to do more canvas type work myself as so much of last year was all about playing in books/journals for me.
It is no surprise that you are a brilliant mixed media artist too!
Hope you get to explore that further this year.

A stunning canvas Shirley, I love the new stamps (got mine ordered). I love the colours and texture you've used. I enjoyed the canvas I made last year and had already brought several more to try and do this year.
Have a great weekend.

Absolutely wonderful Shirley, a brilliant mixed media canvas! Love the colours you chose, and your fantastic brief, but very clear description of how you put it together! Love that, when there are so many blogs to visit, t's great to get such a quick outline that still describes the steps to the finished result so clearly. You have a wonderful talent for mixed medi just like you do for your other work and I really look forward to seeing more!!

Shirley, this is beautiful. I love the texture and just everything about it. On a side note I was the winner two weeks ago as one of the three to receive a gift package and was just the winner for leaving a comment in Dec. I'm on a roll and can't wait to get my hands on some CB stamps.

What a beautiful wealth of medias on this pretty card. Am so loving the glistening purple hearts and I'm guessing that was the Silk painting to get that sparkle on the raised hearts. Love the heart stamps and whoa- stamped on tissue. A fantastic effect to be sure. This card just glows. There's a great challenge http://themixedmediacardchallenge.blogspot.com/ that may be perfect for this wonderful look - I'm betting you have something "New" on it! (that's the challenge...new in some way & mixed media). This one seems to me to fit the bill of fare. It's lovely. TFS & Hope your New Year was great. Hugs

Shirley, Hope you'll find time to enter in the Mixed Media as you do that so marvelously. I've not had a chance to play lately, but hope I can find a time (and Darnell as a NBUS going on too! Just FYI). We're still regrouping from 2 wks away, and doing new year's beginning things paperwork wise. So it will take me a bit to get back in the groove of trying to enter challenges. Hope your Sunday is going well. Hugs

Oh Shirley, what a very fine piece. Your arrangement of the birds and hearts is just brilliant and your use of textures shows up even on the flat screen. I love it.
