Gesso Resist with Poinsettias

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.    It's Monday morning here and the sun is starting to shine :)

I've had much more time in my craft 'studio' over the past month as the weather gets colder.   I also left a part-time job to free up precious time and energy for creativity.    I was fortunate to work at a fabulous stamping, paper crafting shop for the past year but it was time to let it go.

I have another Christmas card to show today again using the fun 'Gesso Resist' technique by Eileen Godwin. (links to her tutorials and blog are included in my post here).

I'm joining in at the Allsorts Challenge blog, as the theme is "Anything Christmas".

I used white acrylic paint as the resist and blended favourite colours of Distress Inks over top.   The Poinsettia stencil is by Tim Holtz and the flower dies are by Crealies, Uno & Set of 3 #13.   The little holly berry spray is by Memory Box.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week,
Shirley

I do love your work, and I really like how you used the gesso resist using the poinsettia stencil. This technique is something I love doing throughout the year. I even used it to make a "tie-dye looking paper for making origami bunnies, this past spring. So many things to do, using this technique. Thank you for all the beautiful suggestions, you share with us regularly. You do such beautiful work.

Wow, so you gave up your part-time job. So glad you will be freed up to be more creative. Working full-time cramps my style which is why I only post once a week. Love your acrylic paint resist. It really is pretty.

I have thought about trying white acrylic paint for this technique instead of Gesso which I don't have and it obviously works as this is gorgeous Shirley. I love the poinsettia and holly stencils and the pretty blue and green you have used look beautiful together. x

I like this very much, and now I'm inspired to go give it a try. Yay! I hadn't been inspired to make Christmas cards before.

Love the resist techniques Shirley especially when using gesso/paints as it is quicker than the embossing. The results are more faded and shabby chic looking but beautiful none the less. Fabby card.

Warm crafty hugs from Shirl x x x

Stunning, Shirley! Just the background alone would be enough to make this card stunning, so your beautiful poinsettias takes this over the moon!! Enjoy your new-found time now that you are no longer working and happy crafting and painting!! Hugs, Darnell

It was nice to come home and see a lovely comment from you on my inbox! It isn't a great day her, yucky outside snowy and rainy and I'm pretty negative today! Just came home from the vets; that "visit" never gets easy! :( Anyway, your card is beautiful! Your color combinations always make me happy! Thanks for sharing and inspiring! Have a great day; Happy December!

How lovely, Shirley! Why is it I can never remember to use my stencils? I LOVE YOUR BACKGROUNDS, and marvel that you remember to use stencils - a lot! LOL Thanks for sharing the technique. Beautiful stenciled background, lovely soft-Shirley colors in the background, and wonderful poinsettias! I also like the way you have stamped JOY randomly in your background. It's one thing I enjoy doing - making my own backgrounds - but then I see beautiful pattern papers and want to play with those, too! There is not enough time! LOL Hoping you enjoy a lovely week-end, my sweet Canadian friend. hugs, de
