Steampunk Roses with Texture

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.

I have Steampunk design using mixed media which was great fun.   I didn't have a plan and was just 'going with the flow'.

I started with a piece of mixed media cardstock.  I adhered Tim Holtz tissue wrap with Gel medium.  I coloured over top with Neocolour II crayons, sprintz with water and let it run.   I wasn't too happy with the colours and it almost went into the re-cycle bin.  However once dry I added light molding paste over the TCW Gears stencil and painted over top with Silks Acrylic glaze which allowed some colour to show through.  I also used Pearl UTEE around the edges.

I embossed the Roses from Chocolate Baroque's Steampunk Butterfly with silver on watercolour paper, painted with both Tombow markers and Acrylic glaze.  I cut the roses out and attached over the background.

Thanks for your visit and have a fabulous day,
Shirley

I love the gorgeous jewel like colours you have used Shirley. There is a lot going on here, but it all hangs together beautifully. The Steampunk Roses go beautifully with the TCW Gears. A really lovely piece of work Shirley. x

Great work Shirley, I love the base of tissue peeping through the vivid colours. The pearlescent and silk mediums really highlight the textures you have used. Lovely to see spring appearing on your blog, hope it reaches your garden very soon. Things are starting to bloom well here. Elaine x

I love the way the colouring of the roses softly & subtly echoes the colours in the background - that leaf is striking & beautifully placed against eh pink part of the background. I'm also looking forward to Spring - we have one daffodil blooming & the rest look nowhere near as sturdy as those in your photo. My husband has promised me that this year he will refrain from strimming the bank until I say he can so we may yet have sturdier plants!

Firstly, love your new header. As awesome as the last one was, with the spectacular snow scene, these bright yellow daffs are so cheery & made me feel happy. Very pretty. Love 'em. Now, I liked your colors together, but then I'm seeing the finished products. Such a joy to read the multiple techniques you have applied to reach the final result..which is- as always - just simply beautiful. Loved the pretty rosebud against all the steam punk ...TFS & Hugs

How could you even have thought about putting this in the bin for a mere second Shirley. Adore your use of colours as usual but the molding paste really make those gears pop.

Warm crafty hugs from Shirl x x
