Fantasy Love Birds

Hello everyone,  I hope you are doing well.

Art Journal Journey's challenge theme for March is 'Fantasy Scene'.  I had the idea to create a fantasy  scene between two birds meeting up in the Spring 'mating' season.   Now I'm more curious about real birds -  How do they choose each other to build a nest and have babies?  Does their 'relationship' become a love story?  They are amazing to watch while building their nests.

The colours are more vibrant that my photograph is shows.   The background is Dylusions spray inks with layers of stencil images using Distress Inks over top.   I stamped Designs by Ryn's Compound Leaf around the parameter and a fragment from Chocolate Baroque's Abstract Fragments over the birds.  The birds were created with a stencil, acrylic paint and doodling.

Thanks for your visit and have a great day,
Shirley

Hehe, the dialogue is great Shirley! Made me laugh :) So to the point, but that's probably how it is in the animal kingdom. I also really like the combination of floral images that you used around the border. Feels like a lush forest.

Wonderful page, love your story between the birds. Skipper sends purrs to Archie and Sheena. Hope Archie is doing better.

That's a wonderful page dear Shirley..and good questions about their relationships.. we don't know much about nature.... poor minds of the children of men!

Thought provoking indeed Shirley, I like to think all birds are like pigeons and swans and mate for life, but I fear that's not the case with most birds. A few weeks back one of the pigeons who frequent our gardens and paddocks was dead on the lawn, no idea how it died but it was so very sad to see it's mate, he or she just sat on the top of the hammock all hunched up for days.

Anyhow, your page is gorgeous, you know how much I love colour and the combo on this is Divine.

Oh Shirley, this is so lovely, the colours and the birds and leaves. I'm sure this one will end happily as she has put on a special head decoration and he is wearing his best hat. It's a superb Fantasy Scene.

Gosh Shirley you have been busy. This is beautiful with so many layers using the stencils and then Ryn's lovely stamp. The colours are rich and vibrant, and you are so clever with your extra little touches which make all the difference to the finished result. x

This is amusing and delightful and, of course, blooming with wonderful color, Shirley!! Those birds must somehow just find each other when the time is right and, boy, they don't mess around with courtship, do they? lol! I think with speed dating and the way young people approach it these days, we are heading towards that type of mating in humans, too! Hugs, Darnell

Beautiful colors - I don't think birds talk about it all that much. They just do it but the males seem to make a lot of nose about it and they both work very well to build and home and feed the babies. I love birds and I love your journal page!

Hey, have you been listening to that darn Cardinal that starts his %$# singing every morning at four AM right outside my bedroom window? That noisy begger is looking for a mate, and I'm sure every female within miles can hear him. And to think I was so excited when he showed up as a juvenile last summer. He was the first male I had ever seen and now I'm not so fond of him! LOL!
Actually though, your pretty page reminds me of our Bluejay pair. They have been together for years and bring their young to our patio doors to look for peanuts. They are like pets to us and trust me, they are spoiled like pets too!
Your page is wonderful! I adore the birds and as always your colours are so gorgeous!

I really chuckled at the character you doodled into those two birds. I looked out onto our bank which is pretty high up overlooking Brecon town, & there were two Drake Mallards, quite what they thought they were doing all the way up here nowhere near any water I don't know.

First, loved the background story that you've created with your 'fantasy'. Interesting thoughts to ponder. You have turned your 'story' into a striking piece of art, and the colors are so vibrantly spring-ish. Liked the white doodling along with the various stencils and these are some lovely violet birds! They'll be welcome at our feeder any time! TFS & Hugs

I love the whole blended background - colours and images - and the birds are literally fabulous! I love birds, and yesterday I was amazed to see a pheasant strolling down my street - never seen a pheasant before in an urban environment! I did take a photo to prove I wasn't imagining it!
