Mixed Media Card Design

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.  We are 'enjoying' a tough winter, the worst in over 20 years.  We got a foot of snow this weekend along with a blizzard, but today the sun was shining and the snow looks beautiful.

I have a card today that I used a little mixed media to create.

I started with mixed media cardstock and added a layer of Gesso.  After drying I covered it with a piece of Tim Holtz Tissue using a Gel medium.    I added texture with TCW Harlequin stencil and light molding paste and let it dry.  Next I sprayed Dylusions inks and painted with Silks acrylic glaze.   I added some gold and green Inka Gold wax on the raised pattern.   I coloured the tissue (on the butterfly) with Inktense pencils.

Art is from Chocolate Baroque's Artistic Expressions and the final step was to add some metal charms.

And here is a photo of one our cats, Archie, who was quite 'chill'.   It was tough to get a photo from the angle, but you get the idea.... crossed arms & legs :)

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your week,
Shirley

Stunning creation, love the textures and the colours. Archie looks so peaceful. Hope you are all keeping warm and safe. Skipper sends purrs to Archie and Sheena. She is not happy with us at the moment. :)

Forgot to say poor Archie, hope they leave some of his teeth so he can catch those furry creatures. Purrs Skipper.

the little butterfly charm draws the eye beautifully & I do like the way those harlequins have turned out. The way that the butterfly melds into the harlequins is delightful. Archie looks quite intriguingly comfortable - amazing with the crossed arms & legs. Take care midst all that 'winter.'

Archie is certainly not going anywhere fast, he's so much at home.

Oh Shirley, where to start with this gorgeous card. The colours are lovely, and the layers you have built up with the music and the script, then the added texture of the harlequin stencil over the top, and the metal charms, and then that delightful butterfly, altogether a beautiful work of art. Hopefully getting about is not too bad with all that snow. Here several inches is a catastrophe! Your cat is so handsome, and looks as though he knows it too, but in a nice way I'm sure. Have a good week. x

Hehe, Archie is so cute!!! Love his crossed legs :) Your card turned out really well. You chose great embellishments to add to the style of the background. Also like the colour you added to the butterfly. Beautiful!!!

It's a good thing Archie has dark on his coat, or he would be invisible in the snow ~ under that chin looks just like snow!

Your card on the other hand looks just like a canvas painting by a master!! One that you would stand in front of at the museum for a long, long time drinking in all the details!

Enjoy the day! I hope winter eases up for you soon. Out here the Governor has declared the State of California a Disaster Area; we could sure use some of that snow on our mountains!! It's a weird weather year everywhere. Hugs, Darnell

Always enjoy reading the techniques you've done, and checking the supplies to see if I have them! This is just gorgeous, and how are you liking the Inka Gold products? I'm on my 2nd try, and find them very dry-out-y. Yours appeared to work beautifully. I'm lovin' that stencil too. Made a wonderful background to all the other lovely bits. Poor little Archie...I don't envy ya'll all that cold & snow. Our little bit was more than sufficient, and it's as cold as I care to have it. Nearly to head back to So. Fla, except it's cold there too! (for them anyway!) TFS, stay warm, and keep on sharing these wonderful works of art. Come to SC & teach a class. I promise I'll sign up! Hugs

Shirley, Thanks for answering my Inca Gold ?. I called Barbara at Joggles today, as she has the Wink of Stella pens in (not the brushes..I wanted the pens too). She has a great video using the Inca & her products are the newer formulation, so I ordered 4 pots. You can thin with enough water that you can use like paint. Or stamp with it. What I have is more like paste...if it doesn't dry. The first set I got was too dessicated to rehydrate. So I wanted to double check with her, before wasting more $$$. Stay warm. Have a great wkend,

Lovely mixed media touches on your card and those colors are gorgeous too!

Your Archie is a really beautiful and healthy looking kitty kat...
I just visited my sister's "chill" cat Drake over the weekend and he likes crossing his paws too...I took a few pix and sent them to her and she said "Oh my the camera really does add a few pounds" LOL...Drake is up in years and ailing and not getting as much exercise as he once did...

Stay warm and won't Spring be extra welcome this year :)

Wow! You always inspire me! Love this work of art; found it when I was looking tonight for a solution for my inka gold mold issue; got side tracked looking at all the cool projects people have done with the product. I was making a tag today with a butterfly, paste, ink and paint. Wanted more color so dug out the inka gold! Love the product :) Thank you for sharing your card with us! I guess I need to try and use some of these sprays that I have and never use! Don't have any of the brand that you have! I need a lesson from you too! Maybe you need to come to Nova Scotia for a visit! Thanks again have a great weekend!
