Playing with Alcohol Inks

Hello everyone, Happy Tuesday.   It's freezing rain here this morning, so we are stuck inside as the roads can be very slippery.

I recently had a play with alcohol inks, I love the textured shapes the blending fluid creates.  I don't use these inks much for some reason, but they are fun.  Below are a couple of cards using alcohol ink backgrounds, with no stamping.

On the card above, I simply doodled some flowers where I dripped alcohol blending solution.

The background above was cut into four and attached in a lay-out that I've seen on other blogs.  I thought it needed something in the center so I added the die cut leaf and bling.   I gave this card to my Dad for his 89th birthday, I thought it would work as a 'man card' :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day,
Shirley

Amazing cards Shirley and great use of the inks. I have to wear rubber gloves when I use them because I make such a mess

Happy Birthday to your dad. I love your cards. The way you drew your flowers is amazing. Clearly you are talented in the drawing department. Have you drawn before? In highschool I was a great drawer, but gave it up.

Both cards are wonderful and have the colors I like much. My favourite is the flowercard, the doodled flowers look so nice. You should play much more with these inks.

Your cards are beautiful Shirley, especially the flowercard ! I also love alcohol inks, but don't use them often. Be careful with the icy roads, it's also freezing here, but dry and sunny. Love, Enny

Happiness is... VIBRANT COLORS... and those can always be found on your blog, Miss Shirley. And despite the disappearance of the sun in your area, one can always find brightness and sunshiny gardens on your blog! I love that you doodled around the alcohol inks to make those incredible flowers. What type of a pen did you use? Does it matter if the pen/marker is also alcohol based? I want to make some of these. Did you have to leave the alcohol ink dry for a while before doodling on it? You ALWAYS inspire my soul, Shirley, with your integration of Nature a la Shirley! love, de

Shirley, I think I purchased July Fairy when you had it on your blog, as it was a long time ago, your inspiration got me there and purchased three more stamps today so am waiting for their arrival I guess in around 3 weeks...xx

Hi Donna, I used a black pigment pen to doodle and probably a white Gelly roll pen for the white highlights. Alcohol inks dry very quickly so yes it would have been dry before I doodled :) xx

What great cards these are, Shirley. I, too, love alcohol inks, and use them less than I might...thanks for the reminder. Hugs from the other side of Canada.
