Hibiscus and Radiant Gels

Hello everyone, I hope you had a wonderful weekend.   I would like to welcome the new followers, thank you for your interest in my blog.  And again I would like to thank everyone for your visits and kind comments.

Along with the beautiful Twinkling H2O's, members of Design by Ryn's Design Team also received a jar of Radiant Gels from ColourArte to play with.   It's a very cool medium, a dimensional paint with glimmer that you can create texture on your art either by using a stencil or paint using a palette knife to create mounds and peaks.  It also blends with other paint when wet, which I found during my experimentation.  I'm still learning what it can do and there are many wonderful colours to be tempted by :)

I used Designs by Ryn's - Hibiscus Stencil with the Radiant Gels.

The background is a combination of Distress Paints and inks and some clear embossing.   I also used Design by Ryn's fabulous Ginkgo stencil.

I used a palette knife to add the Radiant Gel (African Jade) over Designs by Ryn Hibiscus stencil.  I used a heat gun to dry which will cause some bubbling but I was OK with the added texture.   Because the colour of the Radiant Gel is close to the background colour the image didn't stand out enough for me so I placed the stencil back over the gel (when dry) and added a little white Acrylic paint.

On this next design below you can see the glimmer of the Gel which I left alone this time :)

I added the Radiant Gel first, let it dry, sprinkled Brusho powders over top and spritzed with water.  Next I stamped a few leaves from Design by Ryn's Hibiscus stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week,
Shirleyx

Stunning Shirley, I've never heard of Raidient Gels before but they look wonderful and I can see that I'm going to have to keep a look out for these. I love the cards and the stencil you've used on them, I have the stamps but not the stencil yet. Think I'll have to go and buy it.

Have a great week
Sue xx

Wow, these are lovely teamie! Like the effect of transparant leaves on the 2nd one. The shine and glimmer of the radiant gel is beautiful! xxMiranda

Hey Shirley, I agree with Miranda - the transparent leaves over the ink splash look great! They create a really nice subtle texture and connect the Hibiscus with the background. Love the layering in the first card too. I like the free flowing feel of it! Both of them actually. Many thanks :)

Ooh that gel looks gorgeous! I didn't get a pot of that gel, I had a pot of Silks Acrylic paint which I think maybe an acrylic version of the Twinkling H2Os, very pretty. Love that jade colour with your beautiful background! Xx

That must have been fun to receive the new Radiant Gels, Shirley! I can just imagine your excitement. Such a lovely fantasy garden - is it water nymphs who care for it? Or is it merely midnight in the forest? Gorgeous - have fun! I'm sorry about not visiting as often as I'd like these days. Thanks for understanding. hugs, de
