Playing with Blue and Lilac

Happy Valentine's Day !

I hope everyone is doing well.  I was away enjoying some time with family in warm sunshine and now back to the land of snow and cold.   I'm behind visiting in blog land but will try to catch up over the next few days.

When I had a look at the beautiful DT samples for the February's Blue or Lilac Challenge at Lavinia, I wanted to join in.   But I only own three of their lovely fairy stamps and nothing else to create a scene or to add other stamping.   So I came up with this design, I tried adding flowers but they were not working for me.

Lavinia stamp used:   Fleur Silhouette.
Dies:  Spellbinder - S4-383 Marvelous Squares
Stencils:  TCW - Circle Explosion and Star Fall

I stamped the fairy with black archival ink on glossy paper that I blended Blue & Lilac Alcohol inks over.   The two mats were created with After Midnight and Crushed Grape Dylusions inks.  I blended Shaded Lilac Distress Ink over the two stencils.   I added a little glitter to his wings.

Thanks for your visit and enjoy your day,
Shirley

This is - as usual - gorgeous. Love the blues & lilacs with this sweet stamp, and your choice of dies really enhanced the look. Hope you had a great time in the warmth & sunshine. Hard, I'll bet, to go back to cold & snow. Happy V Day, and TFS. Hugs

Welcome back, Shirley!

Oh, wow. I love your card just the way it is w/o the flowers! The purple-blue behind the silhouette against the darker blue background ... to me it looks like a night scene, with the fairy caught momentarily in the moonlight! Your beautiful scenes always tell a story which is why I think it's a shame you aren't an illustrator!

Happy Valentine's Day! Hugs, Darnell

It is sometimes more difficult to make a simple image look good. This is just lovely, I like the black frame, the organza(?) bow and as always your amazing backgrounds. You do use colours with delightful names.
I hope your weather is not too awful and that you had a good time away and thanks for your recent visit to Orange E.

I love the colours and the circles and stars stenciled on the background Shirley, also the more pinky lilac in the foreground. The S/B die cut mats frame the silhouetted fairy beautifully. Altogether a beautiful card. x

Stunning. I love how alcohol inks don't react with dye inks. Great techniques, Shirley!
