Fall Colours with Texture

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.

It's hard to believe but here we are into November already.    I made this card when the Fall colours were in their prime,  which inspired this design.     All stamps are by Chocolate Baroque including their new Abstract Fragments.

Chocolate Baroque Stamps sets used:    Abstract Fragments, Gothic Fragments, Fancy Flourishes, Butterfly Daisy Collage and Artistic Expressions.

I also used Crealie- CL CS 24 die cuts and TCW Stencil - Cubist.

The background is Marmalade, Mustard and Wild Honey Distress Inks using the Acrylic Block technique.   I added the cube design with the TCW Cubist Stencil and Wild Honey Distress Ink.   I stamped 'Art' and the Flourish from Fancy Flourishes at the bottom with Walnut Distress Ink.    I stamped the bricks from Abstract Fragments and Window from Gothic Fragments with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink.

Next I embossed the flowers from Butterfly Daisy Collage with Copper on purple designer paper, cut them out, attached them to the background with the Crealie die cuts and added metal medallions that were hanging out in my stash.

Here is a look at the new A4 (full page) rubber stamp sets Abstract and Nature Fragments. They are on special offer for the month of November and also available as a multi-buy special.   They are fabulous stamps that I will use over & over for backgrounds and more.

And below is a photo from a section of our back garden in the Fall of 2012.    I haven't managed to take an updated version, but we still have a lot of leaves on our trees.

A wonderful blog buddy - Donna from Creative Smiles sent me my new header using this photo.  What a nice surprise as I have not learned how to create a nice header.  Thank you Donna!

Thanks for your visit and have a great day!
Shirley

Stunning Shirley. I love the colours you've used, how lovely to have such great inspiration right outside your door. I love the new stamps (mine arrived yesterday, they are cut out and ready to go as well) they look so good teamed with the other stamps.

We still have trees with lots of leaves on, although the last week has been quite windy, so they are beginning to fall.

This card is quite outstanding, so much clever detail and an extremely attractive overall design. I haven't bought many stamps, but these ones look as if they could be very useful for backgrounds, thanks for the link. Your garden looks lovely and peaceful with the sweep of lawn and the trees.

The acrylic block technique base with the brickwork stamp & Cubist stencil all combine to make a striking backdrop reminiscent of a an old ruined building (the window). Love the way your Walnut Stain Art & bottom border keep with the warmth of the colours you've already used - much softer than black. The die-cuts echo the bottom border shapes & I love the way your metal medallions echo the embossed flowers creating a unified whole. Using the soft mauve with the copper embossing is a masterful stroke in terms of colour theory.
Well - that was an art lesson all in one design.

Can see where your inspiration originated in that photo - glorious.

Good Morning, Shirley. I can easily see your garden in your beautiful masterpiece! WOW! So much work to create an artist's canvas in your backyard, and then to transfer it to you paper. And you have captured it beautifully! My favorite part is the clock's face in the flower center. GREAT idea, and very symbolic. I always enjoy the symbolism in your artwork and can "feel" what you are saying. Beautiful card, Shirley. hugs, de

What a stunning card Shirley! The colour combination is wonderful (can definitely see the inspiration from your beautiful garden). As always, your background is superb and made me think of the sunrise here this morning which bathed everything in a warm honey glow ...... although it was anything but warm in actual fact, lol!

Just left a comment on your last post about the lovely garden, so now I got to enjoy it again. Might follow your link as I would like to have a pretty header too! This is gorgeous. To the card: Loving these fall colors and enjoyed reading about how you created the background. You do that ink block so beautifully...when I've tried, mine always just look like blogs. Perfect color choices to show off these wonderful CB posies and the very vintage centers. TFS & Hugs

Hi Shirley, The Creative Smiles link is not working for me. Do you think Donna would be willing to design a header for me, or allow me to contact her to discuss doing one? I don't know how to do a header either (and I'd love to have something as beautiful as what you have here!) I loved your other design, but this one has my favorite autumn colors in. Such a lovely garden you have. It's simply awesome to see it scroll up. Thanks for the help, and no problem if it's a 'friend' thing. I understand. Hugs
