Poppies in Pastels & Brights

Happy Weekend everyone, I hope you are enjoying the summer.  We've had a lot of rain so the gardens are constantly needing pruning but everything is so lush it's great.

I have contrasting card designs today using Chocolate Baroque's beautiful new Poppy Meadow set.    I took some of my dies & an embossing folder out for play as well.

I see that Rhedd and Rosie's current challenge is "Anything Goes" so I'm joining in with this design.

For the card above I stared by creating a little scene using Distress Inks, ripped card stock and a mask created with a circle negative.     Next I stamped one the gorgeous poppies from the Poppy Meadow set with Cocoa Memento Dye Ink and coloured them with my Prisma Pencils.

The white background was embossed with Acanthus Cuttlebug folder.   I used Crealies CL CF 20 & CL CS 23 for the flowers & leaves which I punched from a light blue sheet of Basic Grey paper which added colour by blending Distress Inks over top.   I stamped with a fragment from the Lace Fragment set on some of the flowers.   I used a little brad from my stash to hold them together.

This next card below is quite bright with Dylusions inks, maybe you'll need sunglasses for this one !

The card above started out different but that happens a lot.  When I stamped the Poppy image onto the background I realized it was lost with the busy background.   So I decided to outline it with a Spellbinder die, using a pigment pen, and bleached the area inside the outline. I painted with Pink, Blue & Green Dylusions (I just add a little ink to my craft mat with the end of the sprayer and paint with a brush & water).    I stamped the corners with Salty Ocean Distress Ink and also used TCW Harlequin stencil with Salty Ocean DI.   Love is from Artistic Expressions.    This design is different, but I thought I would show a contrast to the first design.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day,
Shirley

Two great cards Shirley, showcasing how the same stamp can look so different. Love your layout on the first, so many elements that work beautifully together. The second is lovely and vibrant and shows so well how creative you are with those Dylusions sprays. Elaine x

WOW two stunning cards Shirley, It's very hard to choose between them. I love the pastel scene with the beautiful blue poppies, but then I love the bright colours of the second. It's very dry and hot here in the UK at the moment, making the most of it, as I'm sure it won't last. Hope you're having a great weekend.

Super contrast between the two cards! I see here the same as I always have; the choice between bright and a lot going on or keep it clean and simple with quiet colours... Love both cards; they give a good example of two of your sides! En joy your Sunday, hugs, Gerrina

It's your first one which has totally cuaght my eye & imagination for I've been thinking about using white as a background & you've just demonstrated it beautifully. I'm intrigued by your colouring with the Prismas over the inked background. The matting is delightfully stylish & I do love those green brads & pearls.
It's wonderful seeing your contrasting designs together - again the matting is perfect for the card & I'm amazed at how the image panel actually 'glows'.
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.

Oh, Shirley, what BEAUTIFUL artwork - LOVE the greens in the background on your first card - and the beautiful colors, likely taken directly from your garden after all the rain. The lovely layered blue-lavender flowers are the perfect complement to your fabulous stamp image. The scene is gorgeous. And LOVE your burst of color using the same image! Looks amazing! hugs, de

Your talent truly runs the entire artistic spectrum, Shirley! I am agape over the first one. I love that you have framed it in black because that makes it look like it is framed IRL and ready to hang on the wall ~ where it belongs. It's another amazing creation by you!!

Wow! What a breathtaking visit here this afternoon. (1) love that card, as the stamp is gorgeous. So many different textures along with the gorgeous coloring and diecuts to grab the eye. Beautiful (2) due to my recent fascination with the Dylusions, just had to read the how-to on this one. Is indeed bright, but so wonderful. Good idea on using the mat & tip of the sprayer to mix up some w/c. Both cards are uber fantastic...such a different look with the same marvelous stamp. Thanks for all the inspiration. Everytime I visit, I think 'Ryn stamp', and feel guilty that my droplets is still waiting on me!!! Tee hee. Soon I think. TFS 2 beauties.
