Let it Rain

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.

This is my second post today -  the Out of Hat Creations current challenge theme is "Let it Rain" so decided to get Design by Ryn's Raindrops out to create something to join in.   I also used solid butterflies by Impression Obsession and a sentiment by Chocolate Baroque to create this card.   We are getting more rain than normal, but our plants and trees love it  -  they prefer rain to drought.

I started with Neocolour II crayons (water soluble) on the background.   I rubbed some colour on and then spritzed with water and let the colour run together helped along with a brush.     I coloured with the crayons directly onto the solid butterfly by IO D5009.   I spritzed with water and then stamped onto the background.    As you can see, the result is a watery effect.   When dry I outlined with a water paint Sharpie (the Gelly Roll pen won't draw on the wax very well).   Next I stencilled using TCW Mini Cell Theory and Distress Ink.

I stamped the Raindrops and also used a couple of stamps from Raindrop Set with Teal Stazon Ink.    I coloured them a little with Distress Ink & water (from my craft mat) and highlighted with a white Gellyroll pen.

The sentiment is from Chocolate Baroque's Loving Sentiments set.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend
Shirley

The texture in this is delightful & I love your use of the Neocolour II - I have a set which I must try using for the background looks super with the way you have stencilled. The use of teal for the raindrops works perfectly tying all the background colours together too.

IO has such fantastic stamps & dies...just love the ones I have. This is uber beautiful, and of course, those Ryn stamps...aah. You use them so well. Thanks for explaining about the w/c crayons too. Lovely technique. TFS (we've had our share of rain as well...but better than drought I think).

Hi Shirley!
What a very pretty card and great technique in the background with the crayons, it looks terrific! the butterflies are really pretty too! Excellent effect with the watery (and oh so pretty and colourful) look on those butterflies, very appropriate for the "rain" in the card! Love it!!
Warm greetings, Marlene
