Hi everyone, I hope you are doing well and don't mind looking at 'Doodles gone Wild' :)
I recently bought a book by Tracy Bautista, titled, Doodles Unleashed. I love to Doodle and this book is about practise to take it further and using Doodles with Mixed Media. At the same time that I'm reading the book I see a gorgeous creation posted by a talented artist, Marja, see her post here, as she is was inspired reading the same book. So I decided it was time to stop reading about it and start doodling in my Art Journal.
This is my first try at a 'glam lady' - inspired by Tracy's outlines but is not the same as hers. I had so much enjoyment trying out 'doodles unleashed' but I think it looks like she has an Octopus on top of her head! My husband who is normally encouraging of anything that I create can only say: "She only has one eye-Why?" I don't know, why not? It's great to 'just do & don't think'.
I started with a collage using Modge Podge and pieces of designer paper. I ended up with a line across the page as I didn't smooth it out properly. You can see some of the design through the Gesso that I used over top. After Doodling with pigment pens I sprayed with Dylusions inks. I selected areas with Acrylic & Distress Inks (on my Craft Sheet with water & a brush). I also used a couple of stencils with Distress Inks. I finished by highlighting with a white Gelly Roll pen.
Here is the cover of Tracy's book
Well that's my Doodles Unleashed for today, thanks for stopping by.
Cheers,
Shirley

I love your "one eye octuous on head glam girl"""She is AMAZING!
you did it fab..
I enjoyed a Tracy Bautista free strathmore course and bought this book in german language too... in german: DOODLE DESIGN ...
but I tried two faces after reading and watching the course videos.. and they both looked so stupid to me ...
but though after all my girl desaster I am inspired by Tracy and I really adore her tips and designs...
and husbands of artsy women all over the world seem to be the same..lol
I did my first faces in Mixed Media 2 years ago -very inspired and with the help of the book taking flight - KELLY Ray Roberts ..
and my first face.. I was so proud of it ..my husbad saw..
he smiled and told me that the neck is much too long in his mind..
and as he than saw the girls by Kelly Rae Roberst in thge book ..he said:
oh ---now it´s clear... you made it like them ... they all have long necks!
LOL!!!
Ever since this I always try to give not too long necks to all the faces I do!

Well, she's got another eye but it's under her fringe. I rather like her & especially the way you've created all the texture in the page. The mauve spots at the top balance the mauve at the base beautifully too.

Lovely image and design Shirley!
Well done for getting started, I keep finding excuses to put off starting my art journalling, tidying my craft space, making an art journalling tool kit, reading the books again. This is great, bright colours and there are no rules about what eyes, hair and necks should look like, I think this is a great start. Elaine x
wow this looks great, love it!

Well, there you are. Everyone has an element and you are so obviously in yours, Shirley!! If I had my way you would stop using other people's stamps and just draw your own images!! (And I still think you should sell your art to be made into stamps!) You have incredible talent!!
Ooooo this is brilliant ! ... Great work here Shirley.
fab book too! She really inspired you!
