I shouldn't talk about the weather as it's not a happy subject here. It's mid April so I just had my snow tires removed this morning, only to drive home in heavy snow ! But we will stay positive and expect to be rewarded with a wonderful summer :)
I haven't been able to garden as much as I would like, but I had fun with paints, texture paste, stencils and doodling to create this quirky card.
The background started with Dylusions inks that were mopped up on water colour paper from another project. Next I used a light molding paste with TCW's Whimsical Vines stencil and painted over with Acrylic & Silks Acrylic glaze paints. I also used Distress Ink and the mini Circle Explosion TCW stencil.
The bird is a little Rubber Stamp Tapestry stencil that I picked up thinking it would be fun to use it for doodling. I used Acrylic paint with the stencil & added the hat and doodles with black pigment and white gellyroll pens.
Thanks for visiting & have a happy day!
Cheers, Shirley

I love the way the mini circles echo the dots on both your bird & the scrolling vines & is picked up again with the exclamation mark. The colours are a delightful backdrop for the boldness of the black & white.
Congratulations on your win with Brenda's Challenge - I was so pleased to see your creation there.
We have very strange weather here too - pouring with rain here today but the temperatures are still rather low.

What a lovely little bird Shirley...it's great fun to doodle, isn't it?
kind regards, Alie :-)
What a sweet card Shirley! Love the colours and your doodles! xxx
Love the colours and the bird is perfect to doodle with!
To us it is perfect that you spend so much time withe ink & stamps and so on, but I can understand that you want to be out in the garden a hole day again! Here it´s raining, but 14°C and Sunday they expect 21°C! Just crazy and at the moment I can´t see that happen...Hope the sun will give some warmth overthere aswell... Warm greetings, Gerrina

Hope the snow will soon be gone and the sun will start to give some warmth! hugs Mirandaxx
Hey Shirley, this is so cute! Made me smile to see. Love the deep purple you used. Very whimsical :) Thanks so much for your lovely email. I am SO thrilled that you like how the new stamps work!!!
I never use stencils so it's fun to see what you create with them. Fun card!
Everything on this piece works so well and the you have made the bird look amazing with your doodles.
Love Chrissie xx
I love the colours you've used for the background on this card, it makes a perfect backdrop to this lovely bird. I like the way you've highlighted with the white too. The whole card is gorgeous.
There's plenty of rain here at the moment, and it is beginning to warm up to nearer normal temps. Hopefully your snow will soon go and it will start warming up for you to.

Yes shirley,
what a beautiful card, love the deep brilliant coloring, and the little doodled bird with his hat is really amazing!
I think also positive with the rainy stormy weather today, a little bit looks the sun yet out the clouds.
Wish you a nice and sunny weekend,
xox Anja
What fabuloso colors, Miss Shirley! Wonderful doodling - This songbird reminds me of one of the "Crooners" like Frank Sinatra - hahaha with the lips slightly "pursed" while crooning away in their top hats - especially all the musicals from the 40s and 50s. Great card with such an amazingly embellished bird, and wonderfully intense colors and textures in the background. I always marvel when visiting your blog. xo
So incredibly vibrant! Love the colors and the texture and your classy bird that looks like he is puttin' on the ritz!
Sorry to hear you still have snow too!
Hugs,
Ellen
