Floral Damask & colouring

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a great week.

I've been inspired by the colouring of backgrounds by my talented team mates at the Chocolate Baroque Design Team using the new Big Bold Background stamps.    I also wanted to try Miranda's technique of stamping with white ink and then colouring over top with Pencils.

I stamped the Floral Damask Background with Brilliance Moonlight White onto a sheet of Basic Grey paper that has a slight variance in the colour.   I decided to colour/highlight the centre portion of the Floral Damask design with my Prisma Pencils and left the rest to 'fade' out.

Once I started to colour the detailed design of this beautiful image I fell in love with it a little more!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day,
Shirley

It's a very effective technique Shirley and think I will go check it out on your links. The damask looks good in the rich colours.

This is beautiful Shirley and looks so good with the lovely red background, the pattern looks great picked out with the white and black. I too am a great admirer of Mirandas technique of colouring over the white.

I absolutely love this technique. The fading out of the pattern is a lovely idea & this has become an extremely striking piece of artwork with your use of red, white & black. The white pearls & your base matting layer really exude an incredible glow. Amazingly I'm working on a white, black & red composition too - but using my much neglected Penny Black stamps for Brenda's celebration challenge.

I usually like cards with layers and layers of stuff on them, but somehow you do these fabulous intricate backgrounds, that are so stunningly beautiful, are so mesmerizing in their own right, that the last thing you need are layers and layers covering up your artistry.Your work amazes me!!
